Royalty Is Not Just for Some

By Marguerite Wafula

Royalty fascinates me. From the latest news to how they carry themselves, how they dress or a big event such as a royal wedding! Chiefly, the wedding dress is what I ‘m anticipating to see! I can watch for hours from the points where everyone is entering the venue, to the horse and drawn carriage escorting the bride-to-be trotting down the streets to the wedding party to lastly celebrations of pronouncement of marriage! Every moment of the entire ceremony is fun for me to watch!

Some view celebrities as equally interesting or intriguing, maybe for the antics of tabloid/gossip. Others may say, mostly it is women who are watching the royals due to the romance of it all!

Personally speaking, what fascinates me is not the romance or gossip or even the pomp and ceremonies in themselves, but more deeper spiritual reasons rooted in my continued growth in the knowledge of God, who He is and who I am to Him and not just me, but everyone!

One day, I asked the Lord, why am I so drawn to royalty? The more I grow in knowledge and relationship with the Lord Jesus, seeing myself as royalty is not far-fetched! Not too surprising, the Lord spoke to my heart, because this is how I created you to be! Royalty is how God intended for everyone to be! There is an innate longing on the inside of us, that God is first, not an imaginary being but real and that secondly, we are created to reign in life!

Let’s address the first, a person who says they are an atheist, one who proclaims they do not believe in God, is not honest with themselves. For the word of God declares,

Romans 1:18-23, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.”

Translated, this scripture simply put means everyone knows God is real because God created an awareness or consciousness on the inside of you. The created or creature knows the Creator, whether you acknowledge Him or not, but you do know! Being in denial, is called rebellion!

Case scenario, if someone literally held a gun to your head threatening to end your life that moment or you were in a situation where you were believing you may not live through it, you more than likely, would holler, “Oh, God!” Still some, would start praying to God. Why would you pray or call out to someone you did not believe was real to begin with? Others, are angry with God for some imagined wrong on His part, so how are you angry with someone who is not there?

You know He is real, and you know He is God! Again, it’s called rebellion!

Remember, God created us to rule the Earth, all of us! We were destined to reign in life for all eternity until the fall of man! there is a lot of privileges with freedom but there is also responsibility! For example, when God’s created first man and woman, Adam and Eve fell and thereby all mankind fell into sin (against God’s ways), God came looking for Adam and Eve to fellowship but knew something was wrong. Something terrible had happened!

God asked Eve, the woman,

“What is this you have done?”

Genesis 3:13

Actually, God already knew because they were hiding from God, something they had never done, and they were afraid (fear – which they never experienced before) and they were aware of being naked (shame), in which they were always naked but just did not realize it.

It is my opinion, God was really saying, “you don’t realize what you have done?” God saw all this mess in the world from then and now, in which He never destined to be. God saw the crimes through the ages, heartache, sickness, death, pain and suffering mankind would encounter. The root being results of sin! Sin is the act of disobedience to God! Yes, we have freedom to choose to do whatever we wish, create ourselves what we imagine, do all things we can perform, but with this comes responsibility for our actions. Our actions produce consequences, we may not desire.

Some have questioned, why didn’t God stop it or that God allowed it. The answer is within this scripture the following scripture.

God created mankind to reign in life! From the beginning of His creation, God blessed us, and we lacked nothing!

“And God blessed them [granting them certain authority and said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subjugate it [putting it under your power]; and rule over (dominate) the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

Genesis 1:28

The whole universe would self-destruct, if God, who cannot lie, would go against His word!

God told mankind to rule the Earth. He can’t change His mind, even when man messed up. God had already spoken it! The only thing God is allowing is for us have a free will. God will intervene at times and warn us, particularly as a result of prayers but He cannot stop your free will or ability to make decisions, whether they be right or wrong. A point I want to make clear, everything good and perfect is from God. Just because you experienced something bad, does not mean God allowed it.

The definition of allowed is to give permission to do something or authorize. God is not authorizing the evils in the world nor giving permission to anyone to do them. He is not the Author of Evil but contrary, satan is!

1 Peter 2:9-10, "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy."

There is a misconception we are all children of God. The truth is, we are all His creation but only those who receive the Gift of His Son, Jesus Christ who brings salvation, are His children!

Romans 8:16, “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God”

John 1:12-13, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

In the world, royalty is just for those born by blood or married into this special privilege! In the world, royal families have loads of money and prestige and are set apart. Only children of royal descendants can one day be on the throne as a king or queen. These individuals have status and wealth! Most of them are descendants of the same family!

Unlike royal families in the world, we have only One King, God Almighty, and the believer’s or ‘the called-out ones,” belong to Him. The believers are set apart and born again spiritually, not of flesh and blood!

In the Kingdom of God, we are also one family with God as our King! Not being born by blood but through the mercies and grace of God who gives us access to this family! We are the largest family in creation and God owns everything. This makes us the wealthiest of all royal families put together!

We are all created to reign in life and belong to Him! But only through the cross of Jesus, we have given another chance, an open invitation to come back to God and be saved! It is a choice; we all are given, and God will honor that choice!
