A New Year’s Challenge: Read the Bible In One Year!

Resolution: a firm decision to do or not to do something. Let your aim be to follow the Word of God, what Jesus said!

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Joshua 1:8 NKJV

Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper. Psalms 1:1-3 NKJV

As we go forward into a new calendar year, many have suffered so many losses last year. For sure, the world is in a crisis! You may have lost a loved one due to COVID-19 virus (or other illness) or been close to someone who did. You may have lost a job, a business, or a home! Others are still struggling to keep their business or to stay in their homes! My husband’s and my heart goes out to each of you!

This is the reason for our blog! It was birthed out of prayer and seeking God of how we can bring hope and encouragement in a dark world.

My encouragement is always this: keep moving forward! Don’t lose faith in God!

My husband and I are moved with compassion for others who are suffering so much but we are trusting God! We are not in wonder at what is going on. We heard of these things happening in the world from the Word of God! Jesus tells us clearly in Matthew 24 and other chapters of the very challenges we are facing! Oh, not specifically about a virus or lockdowns but of calamities, fear failing the hearts of men; hatred, sin abounding, lawlessness. He warned us of these things so we would not be shaken and know to keep our eyes on Him! To pray fervently and remain confident in Him no matter what happens in the world around us!

We can’t foresee the future, but we can know God! You can have relationship with Him and fellowship with Him on a daily basis, as you would a loved one! Reading and meditating on His word will bring the confidence and assurance you need in times like these! There is hope and a future with the King! This life is temporary but eternal life can be with God and Jesus!

Some thirty years ago, I heard a radio preacher say: “Some of you are Christians but you have never read the entire Bible. I challenge you to read the Bible all the way through in one year.”

This convicted me! I knew that was me and I took that challenge unto myself. IT CHANGED MY LIFE! Although, I did not understand most of it at first, my eyes were being enlightened! Immediately after, I began to read again the entire Bible! Through this, God revealed and is revealing Himself to me! I have since that time and my husband testifies also, read the Bible many times! When you read and study the Word, you invite God in your situations. To bring life in your darkness!

God has done His part! He sent Jesus to save us! He accepted Jesus sacrifice by raising Him from the dead! He placed His Spirit within all those who believe in Him and His Son! He has prepared a place to receive us after this life passes! He is making a new earth for us to dwell on one day! We have a good future promised to us! It is only in this life we will have these challenges, but thanks be to God who causes us to triumph in Christ Jesus!

I encourage you make this your aim, your resolution this year! Read the entire Bible! Start with the Book of John and read. Don’t just read, meditate. Pray! Seek answers! If you have already read the entire Bible, read again! Your life will never be the same!
