Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year! The kindness, generosity, smiling faces. Eyes filled with hope. Expecting hearts and openness to receive. Family togetherness and unity of people in general. People are a little bit nicer. A welcome greeting, “Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays!” Exchanging of gifts. Giving a gift to someone we care about allows us to communicate our feelings and appreciation for them.
Are these some of the reasons you love about Christmas?
I’ve learned the phrase, ‘Christmas spirit’ refers to a feeling of giving, helping others in need. Typified by expressing cheerfulness and joy!
There is another most important reason, I love this season! For the Christian, the focus is on the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God! The Word became flesh…John 1:14!
To Christians, the gifts given at Christmas are symbolic of the honors made to Jesus by the Wise Men from the East when He was a young child, Matthew 2).
I am mindful how many are grieving the death of someone close to you and it has been a tough year or two! You may have lost your home, your business destroyed, relationships ended, but there is still hope! This is the core of our blog creation! So many are confused and have lost faith in ever getting beyond their present circumstances! Many have lost faith in God! But this is why God sent Jesus into the world, not to blame but to save! John 3:16,17.
John 16:33, “I have spoken to you that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.” NKJV
Jesus was facing the toughest moment of His life when He spoke these words to His disciples! He was preparing to go to the Cross and be crucified! He knew all of them would forsake Him; deny they even knew Him. He said, I know you will all leave me alone, but He refocused and replied, but yet, He knew He was not alone. Not really! The Father was with Him! The Father loved Him! The Father had an awesome plan for His life! A plan of salvation for every person who would ever live!! The whole world!
This was an opportunity for Jesus to be despondent. Thinking on how these men He trained, walked with, taught, poured His life and heart into would run away at the point He needed them most. Jesus could have focused on How the people He created rejected Him!
He chose to do, as we can now, refocus!
Jesus warned us, in the world we would have trouble. He has clearly given much detail of the troubles we may encounter. But He wants us to be encouraged! To cheer up! He has overcome every problem, every struggle, every situation; even death itself cannot hold you!
The problems will come, because the world is fallen into sin but Cheer up because of Jesus and His finished work on the Cross, He gained us the Victory! One day, these troubles will be no more, and you can enter into the eternal presence of God and Jesus’ rest! Whether this is for you through the Rapture or passing through death, the only requirement is: you must experience a second birth! You must be born again! Don’t delay! Today is the day of salvation. Celebrate with all Believer’s this Christmas God fulfillment of the promise of sending the Savior of the world!
Jesus is the Reason for the Season!!
