Little By Little (A Little Becomes A Lot)

I am reminded that God’s word uses a lot of military type metaphors. To help us understand the real spiritual battle we are in. And how Christians need to be actively involved.

Ephesians 6:10-17, AMPC 10 In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provide].

11 Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.

12 For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.

13 Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place].

14 Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God,

15 And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace.

16 Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one].

17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.”

The enemy has been against the will and plan of God from the beginning of his existence. But God has given us weapons. So that we can defeat the enemy and his lies. The enemy, satan’s plan is to make us feel hopeless, to remove joy from our lives. Ultimately to destroy us. But God has given us power over the enemy!

Our fight is not with each other but in the spiritual realm. The devil can use anyone or animals. In Ephesians 6, God tells us what our weapons are.

  • The BELT. We need the belt of truth. The belt tightens our clothes. Know the truth of God’s Word! God’s love for you! Know the character of God and who you are as a child of God! It’s the truth that you know will make you free.
  • Our FEET ready to go and present the gospel! The military are training and ready to spring into action at all time. The enemy wants to take your peace. He targets your heart. God tells us to guard our hearts.
  • You need to live by the SHIELD OF FAITH. The enemy is deceiving and attacks with arrows of  confusion and doubt if you are not focused and confident in the Lord God.
  • The HELMET – protecting your way of thinking. Make sure you are thinking right about God. It matters a lot what you are receiving in your minds. Junk or spiritual food!
  • The SWORD OF THE SPIRIT – is the Word of God, the Bible. This word is a living word. It will penetrate your heart and bring life. Even when the word brings conviction, if you receive and change your error, you will be set free!

I’m reminded that God told the Israelites that the Lord your God would drive out those nations before you, little by little, Deuteronomy 7:22. The weapons are to be used by you daily. Begin to read the bible. Study His Word. Learn your rights in the Kingdom of God as His children. Take steps to agree with God. The enemy first attacks you in your mind, 2 Corinthians 10:4,5. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

You have weapons to capture those thoughts coming from the wicked one. You can’t do it all at once, but little by little. Practice applying the Word of God in your daily life. In every circumstance when they arise.

Life Surrendered To God

If satan could keep you from being born again, he would surely do that. Praise be to God! He has no power to do that! Absolutely and completely none!

In Mark 5:2-6, a man with an unclean spirits, saw Jesus coming at a distance. The man ran to Jesus and worshipped Him. The bible records there were thousands of demons in that man. Not one of them nor all together could stop this man from worshipping Jesus and asking for help! Jesus cast them out and the man was delivered, set free! Praise the Lord!

Your main weapon is your faith in God! All things are possible to those who believe! Little by little, you can do it. And you are not alone. You have God fighting for you. You have His Power, His Promises, His Love, His Covenant, His Authority. The enemy has been defeated but you have to know it.
