Facing Your Giants

In the life of people who have purpose, let’s look in the bible at King David, Esther, and the Apostle Peter.

David and Goliath

David was just a boy but with a purpose of God in his life. David was looking to save the nation of Israel. A giant was putting down the nation. King Saul was there, and knew the situation, but he was afraid of the giant. He did not want to face this giant to save the nation. This giant named Goliath was cursing Israel and putting down the name of the Lord. No one was looking to deal with it. Because of the purpose that was in the life of David, David would risk his life to face the giant. The giant was 8 ft tall. David looked like nothing compared to the giant. But through determination David had towards God, he knew he had purpose in his life! To save the nation, David offered himself and was ready to pay the price. By the help of God, David was able to fight the giant and Israel gained victory!

Queen Esther going before the King to petition for Israel

The life of Esther in talking with her Uncle Mordecai, who was complaining about the situation Israel was facing. Especially himself being accused before the King for lying. Placing Mordecai and all Israel in trouble. Esther was a beautiful lady appointed to become the Queen. But it was still difficult for her to go unannounced to the King because she knew him. It was a big challenge. In the kings life there was an eye (inner court) where not just anyone could enter. You had to have a good reason. It didn’t matter who you were, whether related to the king or your position, or a guest. As soon as you entered the inner court, the workers would inform the king someone is in the eye. The king would take a step to meet you. If you were to bring nonsenses, the king could decide to punish you or order your death. The king wanted to know, ‘Why are were you there?’

Kings normally had many women, and wives. Esther was just one of the queens. Each had to be appointed to meet with him. But Esther was only the one who could save Israel.

Esther 4:14, “Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

She took the chance to meet with the king. She requested Israel to fast with her for 3 days and pray! God helped her and gave her favor!

Proverbs 3:4, “And so find favor and high esteem in the sight of God and man.”

Esther, knew her limitations, knew she needed God to intervene, and took steps to prepare the environment with God as her help! Consequently, she shared what was in her heart to the king and saved all the Jews!

In the life of the Apostle Peter, first of all Peter was fearful! Peter, we know, walked away at Calvary because he saw the punishment Jesus was passing through was too much! At that time, Peter did not know God’s purpose in his life. If you don’t know God’s purpose in your life, you will be fearing like Peter. He did not see the meaning of dying. There was a question, why. Why go to Calvary? Why give your life? But when Peter sees God’s purpose in his life, he is ready to stand up for God, for Jesus! The same person who once feared these people, purpose drove him to stand up! Peter knew he had something to achieve!

Apostle Peter preaching at Pentecost
Over 3,000 souls saved and baptized

Acts 4:4, “However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.”

Peter preached and thousands received the Lord that day and their lives changed forever!

When you have a purpose, you will have a lot of challenges. Fear can arise in you, and you see the giants! People who achieve or bring change, it is not easy! You have to overcome numerous obstacles that bring fear to you! The enemy comes to block your way. It could be finances, health issues, or anything to frustrate you away from your purpose. But if you believe and trust God, He will help you pass through.

For example, if you fear to buy a house, too expensive, be focused on what it takes to get your house and seek God to bring it to pass! If you obey God, howbeit, things may come and the enemy will attempt, but it won’t stop you. The enemy comes to scare you.

I want to share about a little girl, who at the time was only 3 years old. We all visited a horse ranch and she had never been around horses. She watched them attentively. She asked why the horse keeps going, “brew?” Her pronunciation of neighing. Lol. When her older brother happened to call while she was looking at the horse, replied to her brother, “I can’t talk much now Jay, this horse is bigger than me!” Then quickly handed the phone back to her mother. She studied that horse, but it frightened her too. The next morning, her mother shared, she was scared that night and could not sleep. Months later we went back to the same ranch, and she allowed her father to SIT HER ON THE HORSE as he walked with her holding the reins! She is not afraid anymore! This at that time was her giant. She also has replied, “I don’t know why I’m scared.” “I shouldn’t be scared!” We should have the faith as a child!

Everything you want to achieve; has its own challenges you have to deal with. Some people fear education, but this is where you get greater opportunities. Before you reach your goals, there will be chances to get frustrated and give up. But if you press on, pursue it, face it, trust God, like David, Esther, and Peter, and those you may know, you will also succeed!

The purpose God has in your life, you need to face your giants!
