The problem with such reasoning is that the Bible isn’t a list of rules and doctrines. It’s a story about how God relates to the world He created. The scriptures do not contradict themselves, as some suppose, but the Bible tells us an unbeliever cannot comprehend the things of God, it is foolishness to them. Only through the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit (God’s Spirit), can one have deep understanding into God’s word!
The Bible tells us:
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hebrew 4:12
The word of God cuts and divides! When you go to a doctor, he asks you where it hurts. Then he touches that area. Going straight to the wound, the doctor will administer to that wounded area to solve the problem. The doctors are not tackling the whole body but the infected area.
Likewise, this is the word of God! The Bible describes the word of God as sharper than any two-edged sword. The meaning of the sword is to cut. The word of God is dividing your heart by opening it up to see where the problem is. Jeremiah 17:10, I, the Lord, search the heart.
The work of the Holy Spirit is to see outside and inside of a person. People only see the outside. Such as a person’s appearance and can condemn them. The Holy Spirit can also see inside a person’s life. When the doctors are performing surgery, they are not playing with you but seriously trying to save your life! There may be pain and you may not like it, but they are doing it to keep you alive! Some are fighting the word of God (Bible) because it is painful for them. God has to deal with that wounded area so healing will come! Deliverance will come. Salvation will come!
This is why God’s word is a living word! It ministers, encourages, corrects, heals, and delivers wherever the point of your need!
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16, 17
Healing and deliverance comes through correction, exhortation, and instructing you in the right way. So, you can pay attention to what you are doing. If no one can correct (rebuke) you, you may not understand the seriousness of your situation. It may hurt for the moment but is necessary for you to know what the root problem is. It is not always coming in good words, nice words, soothing words. We are to speak in love! Yes! But we are to speak truth!
So, the individual may be whole and prosperous, equipped, and useful for the work of God!
Matthew 5:27-30 is an example of such surgery. The committing of adultery. Jesus is the teacher here and states very clearly lusting after a woman in your heart is committing adultery. Therefore, if your right eye (which causes you to see her and lust) offends you or causes you to sin, pluck it out or if your right hand causes you to sin (by touching her), cast it from you.
Jesus is not talking about a physical dismemberment but rather bringing a spiritual truth. Jesus furthers states, these things are stumbling blocks to you and may cause you to be cast into hell. This act in itself may not cause you to go to hell but it is a progression of events. Other examples are stealing or bitterness. Bitterness, if not dealt with, can hinder you and cause hatred, depression and may ruin your life!
In the book of Genesis 4:5-8, Cain had jealousy, bitterness and hatred toward his brother, Abel. God tried to help him by talking to him about it. God told him if he did not deal with it, sin was waiting at the door. Sin was the next step. God corrected him and encouraged him that He could rule over the situation. Cain did not listen, and thereafter murdered his brother Abel. It ruined Cains’s life.
God is fighting for the weak areas in your life by the help of Jesus Himself, the Word! You can be sinning even if you’re not physically committing sin. Sin is sin! This puts you in danger and need to be delivered. You need to work out because it will create something. You can trust God to help you more in those areas.
You cannot compare someone receiving Jesus at the last minute of their life. This is not to be compared to a Christian who is walking with God in their lifetime. The person being born-again for a long time learns and should know more. Those who have been given much, more is required. You need to give Him more fruits. It is a process of living in Christ. You cannot save yourself. Make your relationship closer to the Lord and He will help you!
This is how many in Christianity’s lives are. When you are young in Christ, you may need baby milk as the word of God states. But after a time, you should have meat, the deeper things of God. You can stand with God by yourself. You don’t always need a pastor to hold your hand. You can pray. You can teach. Lay hands on yourself if the elders are not around. Know the word and speak the word of God over yourself and your family! You are grown up now.
Lastly, allow the Holy Spirit to teach you to understand the will of God in your life. Everyone is called by God and has a purpose. He wants to use every individual! He wants you to prosper in every area of your life! You can do what God wants you to do if you allow the Holy Spirit to lead you!
So, this is what I can share! 😊
