Freedom comes with a price. Christ gave His life so that we may have eternal life.
“John 17:3, “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
God wants you to be free. Free to know Him and His Son. Free to live in His blessings He has obtained for you! If you are bound, and in chains, God cannot use you. Nor can you receive the blessings of God! The blessings are available, but you will be beat down in life by the enemy like a donkey.
Mark 11:2-10
Why did Jesus use the example of the donkey? It is because the donkey was tied and therefore could not move. When it was loosed, it was able to go free.
The donkey is unique in that, people don’t care too much about it. They are the most overlooked character in the Bible. Not like a horse. Horses are some of the most powerful animals, and beautiful!
Jesus was preparing to fulfill prophecy. Donkeys were portrayed in Scripture as symbols of service, humility, suffering, and peace. Therefore, riding a donkey symbolized the arrival of peace. A colt (a male foal) was often ridden by a new king, which showed a transfer of rulership. A king would have ridden a horse when he was ready for war.
However, a king riding a donkey would symbolize peace. Fulfilling prophecy as foretold in Zechariah 9:9. Jesus would enter in humbly, with love and compassion. The choice of a donkey instead of a powerful horse showed that Jesus was there to serve and save the people.
Some of you are tied up, struggling, bound. God has come to set you free, and He can use you to do His will!
In some countries, people use mostly donkeys as contrasted to horses. They cannot afford a horse. The donkey is an animal that suffers a lot and is worked hard. Standing in heat and rain. With no house. The donkey is used up to death.
Matthew 11:28, enemy puts us in suffering in relationship, health, finances like a donkey.
During the procession of Jesus triumphal entry into Jerusalem, they threw clothes on it, and He sat on the donkey. The Bible says, “many spread their clothes on the road, and others cut down leafy branches from the trees and spread them on the road. Crying, “Hosanna, Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”
They were praising Jesus and the donkey was right in the midst of it all!
Jesus was symbolizing bringing peace and salvation to all! No matter how you have been beat down, mocked, ridiculed, abused, God has need of you and you are valuable to Him! He created you to be a winner and to succeed in life!!
Just as the donkey rose to the occasion with Jesus in all His glory, so too the Believer now! The Bible tells us, Ephesians 1:3, “we are blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”
You were born to win!
