Memory Markers

What are the most important memories of your lives? Most of us can remember our first car, first pay from job or business, house, wedding, the first steps of our first baby, or the first trip to another country! Markers that help you think about key moments and events. Some markers are very painful, and you may not want to remember those but God who helped you pass through them, is the same God who will help you pass through what you are going through now!

Psalms 77:11, “I will remember the works of the Lord. Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.”  Praise the Lord!

How the Lord helped you! Don’t forget how you passed through those times!

Having reminders marked on your calendar alerts you to important events in your life! I remember vividly, how I first received salvation and was baptized at the age of 10 years! A decade ago, I decided to celebrate this day every year! I remember God leading me to read the Bible and using a radio minister to do it. Revolutionized my life! The time, I was not sure of my salvation as a teenager, and how God sent a servant to assure me! Or the time, when I lost my beloved dad two weeks before I was to leave for Missions in Kenya! How about the times when I did not have enough money to get groceries and God always made a way!

WOW, I have so many memory markers! Some I write down, and some I recall in my mind from time to time and mediate on God’s faithfulness and goodness! These keep me in faith and focused on Him! I know He is the same God who will help me now and in the future!

Hebrews 13:5, “For He Himself has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

And when you are tempted to believe that God is causing these catastrophes in your life, mark this scripture in your Bible, print it out on paper and tape it on your bathroom mirror,  Jesus said, John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may live it more abundantly.”

During these times of pandemic and one variant after another, it is easy to be frustrated and feel hopeless. It bothers me, when I talk with someone, particularly a Christian as I am, who is in so much fear! Many people believe our current crisis’s is too big for even God! I hear comments like, “This is serious” or “Christians and non-Christians are dying.” While I don’t deny either, it is not bigger than God! God has provided healing and forgiveness of sin through the blood and body of His Son, Jesus Christ at the Cross! If we would apply the Word, believe, and do not doubt, we would see God’s Word manifest in our lives. It doesn’t matter what your title, affiliation or degree, or dilemma, the promises of God are received by faith!

When overwhelmed, remember God’s greatness!
