Not Too Old

Joshua 13:1, “Now Joshua was old, advanced in years. And the Lord said to him; You are old, advanced in years, and there remains very much land yet to be possessed. NKJV

Psalms 92:12-15, The righteous will flourish like the date palm [long-lived, upright and useful];
They will grow like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic and stable].
13 Planted in the house of the LORD,
They will flourish in the courts of our God.
14 [Growing in grace] they will still thrive and bear fruit and prosper in old age;
They will flourish and be vital and fresh [rich in trust and love and contentment];
15 [They are living memorials] to declare that the LORD is upright and faithful [to His promises];
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. AMP

Psalms 103:16, “With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.” NKJV

God’s blessings are not limited by your age! Today’s world, the elderly, and those aging, are increasingly forgotten, ignored, disrespected, and unappreciated. But God is telling you, He still has need for you! No matter what your age, you are still of value to Him!

God’s ways are contrary to the world’s! In fact, the Bible tells us they are enemies! If you are a friend of the world, you are an enemy of God, (James 4:4). Whom the world trashes and disregards, God says there is still work to do for you! I can still use you!

God told Joshua He knew he was old but there yet remained blessings for him to obtain! Something older people have more of is wisdom in experience! We’ve been through a lot and can tell you somethings. How to avoid somethings and a better way! A few years ago, while ministering at a church predominantly elderly, a woman told me later what I shared ‘God’s Plan For Your Life,’ was not for these people. That those people were old and didn’t know what I was saying. Maybe or maybe not I thought. Who knows but you and God! We are to be a light, a channel for God’s love to flow through and share the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! We are to be found faithful in our assignment, leaving it up to God’s ability to do the work in them!

But it requires faith! Faith in God’s ability to use you and faith in His willingness to bless you and make you a blessing!

Joshua had faith! God entrusted to Joshua the leadership of Israel after Moses died! Joshua and Caleb were the two spies who brought back a good report and believed that God would help them succeed. They were the only men from their generation permitted to go into the Promised Land after the time of wandering. Joshua lived by faith in God and His promises all his life! He walked by faith! In order for God to give him more to do, Joshua had to be obedient. Moses, his predecessor, was 120 years old when he died, yet his eyesight was still good, and his body was strong.

Even if you receive salvation at an older age or have not followed the Lord after salvation, God can take you from that point and lead you to something special He has for you to do in your remaining years! God said this, Psalms 78:41, They limited the Holy One of Israel.”

We can limit God but if you believe God’s Word, meditate on, and speak His promises, God will cause you to prosper, be vital, and have great achievements even at an old age!
