The Bible And Mental Health

It is always so sad to hear of someone committing suicide.

It is said, since the pandemic and lockdowns, the persons ending their lives have increased alarmingly. Depression knows no boundaries for even little children feel the hopelessness of their situation.

These individuals no doubt do not know how to fix what’s wrong. I’m sure, they just want a way out, to stop hurting. It doesn’t matter the outward appearance, for the enemy attacks our mind first. If that works, the person will act out what they are meditating on if they’re wrong thinking doesn’t change course.

What does God say in His Word about good mental health?

The Word of God tells us when we look to ourselves, another person, or the world, sustainable peace and joy cannot be achieved. But when we look to God, our Creator, and receive His love, we enter into His blessings! This includes peace, joy, contentment, even in the midst of our trials.

God created a perfect world that is now tainted by sin and satan. Our world is fallen, and Jesus said, (John 16:33), we will have trouble. We will have tribulations, but know He has conquered the world, sin, satan, and your problems. When you put your faith, and trust in Him, He will be with you, and you will pass through! Sometimes bruised, sometimes hurt, but Victory is yours! In addition, one day, He will wipe away all tears and create a new earth and new heaven. Sin cannot enter and satan is punished.

The battlefield is in the mind:

2 Corinthians 10:5,”casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

Romans 12:1,2, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God.”

Offer your body to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Change your thinking to what God says, and then begin to cast down those thoughts that come contrary to God’s Word!

Sounds simple, but it is not. However, it is obtainable! Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”

God’s word is life to our flesh, souls, and mind! Speak His truths into your situation! Wake up to hope! You have purpose and a future!
