The Government Shall Rest Upon His Shoulders

Isaiah 9:6,7, “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulders. Of the increase of His government and peace, there will be no end.”

The government of God’s Kingdom is on Jesus’ shoulder. God has given His Son to be the King over every issue concerning heaven and earth.

This scripture is so powerful! It is such a wonderful promise of hope! The verses reveal to us, the increase (population, economy, and empowerment) of His government and peace, there will be no end! Jesus is our Wonderful Counselor! Of peace, in which any problems, Jesus will counsel you, and if you obey and trust Him, you will have peace.

In the world, we know the leader of a nation is a president or other type of ruler. People don’t normally expect their leader to be evil to them. Quite the opposite, there is a hope and expectation their leader will add to their life good things. It is natural to want increase, peace, a chance to have a good life with our families. Even though, sometimes we are disheartened with the human leaders.

The point is, how much more can we be certain of our heavenly Father? We will never be disappointed with God and His plan for those who believe in His Son Jesus Name! Peter declares the heart of God in giving His Son, Jesus to us. 2 Peter 1:3, “as His divine power has given to us all things, that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.” No matter what challenges we face now, we are assured our Sovereign God promises a future where He will forever reign over us! Sin, death, and our enemies will be dealt with for the last time! And we will be forever with Him in a new heaven and a new earth! Thus, all the solutions to our issues are found in Christ!! Even now!

Population – regardless of the persecution, the numbers of believers are ever increasing. It has been proven, during the darkest times, the church flourishes! The Apostle John recorded John the Baptist saying in, John 3:30-31, “He must increase, but I must decrease. He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.” Jesus had begun to make more disciples than John the Baptist. Every day, individuals are deciding to make Jesus their personal Lord and Savior! The Church is expanding!

Economically – people need to be blessed with things such as peace. When the president is leading, people expect to see the current state of the nation with a strong economic growth, slowing inflation, and prices going down, among other things.

Empowered – A Child is born…a Son is given.” The physical body of Jesus was born, but His eternal spirit, which existed in the beginning (John 1:1) and created all things (John 1:3), was given. He is able to empower His own. To order and establish His Kingdom. And He will do it with judgment and justice (9:7) since He is the Owner!

And His Name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace!
