I meet and hear of many people who say they are believers, or say they are Christians; but are not assured of their salvation! Most (as I also experienced in the beginning of my salvation) do not even know what being saved or born again mean.
You can say the words asking Jesus to come into your life; sincerely mean it in your heart, but sometime thereafter, you are not sure anymore! Why? What happens?
Know this! If you asked and believed, you were at that very moment saved!
Romans 10:8,9, “But what does it say? The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
A person can begin to question their initial experience receiving Christ when they don’t see any evidence of their salvation years later. This can happen particularly when attending a church that is not teaching the word and spirit filled. You may not have heard or understand the spiritual change took place on the inside in your spirt. It is your spirit that is born again! Not your mind, or body!
Romans 8:16,17, “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.”
When you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, God guarantees you to be His child by His Spirit (The Holy Spirit)! Ephesians 1:13,14, “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance.”
The frustration arises when we don’t feel saved a lot of times because of our performance. Salvation is of the heart. You believe and receive, God’s gotcha! It’s by faith, you can know you are saved and can know in the course of your walk with God and Jesus in your life.
This is how!
John 15:4-8, “4 Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself without remaining in the vine, neither can you [bear fruit, producing evidence of your faith] unless you remain in Me. 5 I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for otherwise apart from Me [that is, cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not remain in Me, he is thrown out like a broken of] branch and withers and dies; and they gather such branches and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you remain in Me and My words remain in you that is, if we are vitally united and My message lives in your heart, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 My Father is glorified and honored by this, when you bear much fruit, and prove yourselves to be My true disciples.” AMP
Are you abiding?
This parable Jesus teaches us of growth, having fruit and then more fruit. We must grow! 1 Peter 2:2, “as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.” Reading the bible, praying, renewing your mind, listening to the Holy Spirit, obeying His voice are essential to a satisfied relationship with Jesus!
One way of being confident of your salvation, is maturing in the Word of God and your walk with Him! And when you are confident, His love for you, will pass you through anything! 1 John 4:18, “perfect love casts out fear.”
This year were respectively celebrate 42 and 50 years of being saved/born again!! Praise the Lord! We are confident of this!! You can be too!
