Why Do We Fear Death?

Romans: 4:25, “who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.”

What offenses? Sins; wrongdoings; an immoral act considered to be a transgression against divine law.

Jesus was lifted up! He was delivered (given) up! Because of our offences! Because of our sin! Jesus did nothing wrong and did not sin! Jesus was nailed to the cross, offering Himself as our sacrifice! God the Father did not coerce Him, but the Son willingly chose to do this! God raised Him from the dead to justify us (as if we never sinned); to call us holy and righteous! The resurrection is proof God accepted Jesus being our sacrifice! God’s acceptance was not a guarantee. If Jesus had sinned, the deal would have been off the table so to speak. Likewise, if Jesus had declined or changed His mind, we would have no hope. All mankind would be lost and separated from God forever!

Therefore, He is not dead! He is not in the grave! He is Alive! All those who believe are alive in Him! Seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus! We walk in the living God! In the power of the life of Jesus! Death is not in us!

The Bible tells us, as a believer, when time of rest comes, you just go to ‘sleep’. Death has no power over those who believe in Jesus! Death could not hold Jesus because He conquered it! God rose Him from the dead! God the Father gave Him power and authority!

Matthew 28:18,19, “And Jesus came and spoke to them saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

This authority Jesus shares with the Believer! As Jesus has power and authority over death, so do we! This does not mean you will not pass away but death cannot keep you in the grave and Jesus will resurrect you!

21 Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.”

23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”

24 Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

Do you believe this?

Jesus always leaves the individual with a choice! As He had a choice whether or not to go to the Cross, we have a free will!

There is nothing a human being fears more than death!

People may fear other things but mostly it is because those things may kill them. Otherwise, why fear lions, bears and other creatures? We would just walk where they walk and pass them! For example, Adam, before he sinned, lived with them peacefully! There was no death, killing, or fear. After the fall, fear accompanied death. Then Adam started fearing everything. Everything he once felt was his friend and familiar with, he ran away from. He started looking how to protect himself.

This is why we have good houses. We build our houses to keep some things out. We are protecting ourselves fearing other things or people not good from outside coming closer.

Before the fall, there was no need to protect ourselves. God was Adam’s protection! Nothing could be against Adam! Jesus obtained the victory for us and all who believe are victorious! God raised Jesus from the dead, and He will raise the believer too!

Romans 8:38, “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

There is nothing the Word of God says, not death itself, that can detach us or divide us from God’s love! We are sealed by the Holy Spirit! Nothing can take us out of Jesus! He remains in us, and we remain in Him! Makes no difference, what we have done, or the sin committed. As you know Jesus, you are permanently in Him! The Believer lives and walks in Jesus!

Things will come, but God will protect us!

Colossians 3:1-3, “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.” Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”

You may be wondering; how can I be raised up and I’m still living!

All of us went down with Jesus when He was on the Cross! We were in Christ when He took our punishment, and our sin was forgiven! When Jesus was raised; we were raised with Him! Jesus is sitting at the right hand of the Father. We are sitting with Jesus in the spirit right now! Don’t fear what’s going on in the world. What the media exclaims. On happenings shaking the world. We are not people of this world. Yes, It will get worse, but we need to focus on the things of God. Set your mind on the things above! You will see hope, prosperity, and peace! When you do, the things in the earth will be small.

God told Moses to make a brass serpent and lift it up on a pole so that anyone bitten by the serpents could look at the serpent on the pole and live rather than die. Let us continue to focus on Jesus! Sickness comes, focus on Jesus! Problems come, focus to Jesus! You are Victorious! Things will come to shake your faith but continue looking to Jesus!

You are already sitting in heavenly places in Christ Jesus! When that day comes and you are a believer, you will simply change location. Exchanging this world for heaven! Passing from death to life! Praise the Lord!

Receive Him today!
